Foundations of advanced analytics: A layered approach fit for purpose

On-Demand Webinar

For data quality, the scope of the analytics has to be understood in its usage context: individual sensors single pieces of equipment ,a functional group (FEG), or an entire process unit or a plant. Similarly, for maintenance, the analytical requirements must be framed around popular maintenance strategies - reactive, preventive, condition-based and predictive. And, for a process, the layers are often described as – descriptive-diagnostic-predictive-prescriptive. A layered approach can encode SME (subject-matter-expert) knowledge in fit-for-purpose analytics, and you can deploy the analytics in a hybrid fashion - both physics/engineering (first principles) based analytics as well as data driven with machine learning via open source or third party libraries.

Join us for this webinar series where we first explore a layered approach to analytics for use cases in data quality, condition-based/predictive maintenance, process diagnostics, and others. We will introduce the data engineering aspects in the analytics workflow and prepare you for what to expect regarding operationalizing the analytics.

Craig Harclerode is an O&G Industry Principal at AVEVA where he works with O&G and HPI companies on a range of topics including realizing the synergy value from the combination of the AVEVA PI System and the broader AVEVA industrial software portfolio that provides a digital thread across the engineer, operate, and optimize life cycle at enterprise scale.

Craig has spent his extensive career focusing on leveraging the ever growing digital capabilities to in support of “digitally enabled business transformation” to deliver increased business value, safety, and recently, weaving in decarbonization.

Of particular interest and focus has been helping with the understanding and use of digital capabilities in areas such as digital twins, analytics, industrial information management, and multi-experience visualization.

This background provides the context for this webinar on why Craig feels companies should adopt a “layers of analytics” across a hybrid cloud strategy to deliver increased business value and safety while supporting their sustainability objectives.

Craig’s career has included engineering, operations, and automation in supervisory, executive management, and consultative roles at Amoco Oil, Honeywell IAC, and Aspen Tech prior to joining OSIsoft in 2006 (now part of AVEVA). He holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University and an MBA from Rice University. Craig has numerous white papers and publications and is a regular thought leader presenter at conferences, panels, and events globally on a wide range of business and digital strategy thought leader topics.
